UWIC 50 v BRECON 24
Uwic triumphed over Brecon in the 2nd round of the Konika Minolta cup in a game which will have to be renamed the George Dixon show. The strong running winger went over for no less than five tries as he single-handedly defeated the opposition. His first try was straight forward enough but his second 55metre solo effort was breathtaking. His third, fourth and fifth all had individual merit featuring hand-offs and power running.
In between this action there were tries from flanker, Ryan Harris who emulated Dixon’s strong running with a 25 metre individual effort, a super interception from scrum half, Lee Williams who sprinted 75 metres to score and a well deserved effort from wing, Nathan Trowbridge. Full back Matt McClean slotted 5 conversions.
Worryingly the students leaked two converted tries at the end but they were always in command and with George Dixon in this kind of form anything is possible.
