UWIC 60 v LLANHARAN 32

In an exhilarating display of creative rugby, UWIC trounced Llanharan at Cyncoed. The home side were hit by two quick tries, one from former student, Ben Rose, but hit back with some excellent scores.

Wing, George Dixon, was first to score latching on to a deft chip from outside half, Nathan Hopkins to score wide out. A few minutes later lock Louie Tonkin was in support to finish off a break by centre Matt McClean with a 30 metre sprint for a try that McClean converted.

Next a Nathan Hopkins break set up a try from pacey full back, Martyn Thomas, who beat two men before crossing. The impressive McClean then beat three players to power in for a try in for a try that he converted. Minutes later McCean landed a 35 metre penalty.

Martin Thomas continued to impress on debut and scorched over from an attack instigated in the students 22 which went through six hands. UWIC were now in command and the half time score line of 32-24 was extended when George Dixon broke through to score a try converted by McClean. Then Nathan Hopkins scored an individual side stepping try that McClean converted. The students last try was one of the best in the match as play went through several phases resulting in a try for wing, Nathan Trowbridge converted by McClean.

In all, a wonderful display of modern attacking rugby.
