UWIC 23 v WHITLAND 28

The students West Walian excursion ended in defeat yet the never say die attitude of the Cyncoed side was commendable.

Playing with the aid of a very strong wind, UWIC opened their scoring with a well taken 40 metre penalty from outside half, Tom Hancock. Hancock then increased their lead following a sniping run and chip from scrum half Lee Williams, as he sailed over for an unconverted try. Hard working lock, Alex Jones, completed the students first half scoring with a short range try. The burning question was had they scored enough points to defend.

In the second half the home side used the wind intelligently and clawed back with three converted tries but the students were not about to succumb and were still in the game in the final quarter and obtained a consolation try from impressive centre, Pat Foreman. This was a match that could have been won and in terms of attitude no more could have been asked.
