Club History
Presentation Dinner 2005 / 2006
The Annual UWIC RFC Presentation Dinner took place at Cyncoed on Saturday 20th May 2006, where many deserved presentations were made.
The sudden death of Committee Member and Press Officer, Neville GAUNT was marked by his son William presenting the Neville Gaunt Memorial Award for the Clubman of the Year to Willie Watt for his unselfish services to the club.
The Captains were presented with their Captains Tankards, 1st XV - Craig Morris, 2nd XV - Alex Godfrey, 3rd XV - Rhys Jones and the 4th (Freshers) XV to Guy Thompson. Guy was also the 4th XV Player of the year.
The 1st XV Most Improved Player was 1st Year Student Stefan Taricska, Gareth Williams and Steve Davies collected the 2nd and 3rd XV Players of the Year Trophies respectively.
The 1st XV Players Player of the Year proved a double for the recipient who also received the Leighton Davies Player of the Year Award. The recipient was Steve Facey, the mature player of the club, but the most committed, and it was pleasing to see that the players agreed with the coaching staff in giving him the awards.
A tie was presented to Jonny Bryant who is taking a break from his studies to pursue his Professional career with Sale Sharks.
Many thanks go to the club President Mr Phil Davies who once again entertained to his normally high standard.
A fond farewell was made to all those players who are leaving this year, and i am sure we will see some of them again in the future.
